Mmmmm, Mongolian Hot Pot. . .

June 1st, 2008

Yesterday we decided that it was definitely time for us to get out of the house and get around the town.  Since we have started playing Wii I have noticed Sat isn’t pushing me to leave the house as much, which I don’t mind, but I don’t think it is so good for him.  If he doesn’t play outside for at least an hour every day he gets a little. . . well, mean. :-P Continue reading »

So much to tell!

April 7th, 2008

Well, it has been a while since the last post and SO MUCH has been going on! As you saw a few weeks ago I got a new job (yay!). My last day in my current position is this Thursday. I have been bustin’ my balls for the last two weeks to get things wrapped up and ready for me to leave. I don’t only have to take care of my regular tasks but also wrap up all the “extras” that I have been working on.

Spring Break, WOOOOO!

March 25th, 2008

It’s somewhat weird when you live in a spring break destination. People want to come to your town to soak up some sun and booze but all you want to do is get away. I’m not complaining though; I’m pumped that spring break has finally arrived.

It hasn’t been all that long since our last post but it has been the end of the term and Easter was on Sunday so a fair amount of things have been going on. I’ll start from the beginning, namely the end… of the term.

As you might have gleaned from Colleen’s last couple posts, she was offered a job in the Mandeville Special Collections Library. She was a little depressed from being passed over for the other jobs she interviewed for but that made this offer even sweeter. She officially accepted the position today and she begins her new job on April 14. I know she is going to rock, just like she does in all aspects of life.

A Quick Post

March 11th, 2008

Well, I figured since I haven’t written in a while I really should and lucky for you I have a little extra time this morning! It is week 10 (out of 10) at UCSD which means busy busy students and finals are just around the corner. RE and I are rushing to get evals done for our students and get everything in order for Spring term. We just found out yesterday that we aren’t going to have to hire any new students right away! Although we are going to be taking on all of Reserves searching and possibly ILL in the future for now we should be set and can always hire later in the term (as long as we get the $$ for it!).

Look mom, a picture of us TOGETHER!

March 4th, 2008

Sat and Colleen at the Indian Caves

Sat and I never get pictures of us together - it is always one or the other. But lookie what Colleen got this weekend. :) This is for you mom, happy early birthday! I guess most of you (you know, the two that actually keep up with this blog) are wondering what the heck I am doing posting in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. Well, last night we had my world famous french onion soup and for some reason every so often the soup makes me pretty nauseated the following morning. Like this morning. Sat was actually driving me to work when I realized today might be a good day to stay home sick. All those bumps with the bricks at the gate and then a quick u-turn that left my stomach reeling. So after another quick u-turn I called my boss and let him know I wouldn’t be able to make it in today. Although I still don’t feel a hundred percent Sat is positive that it is just my guilt at not going to work that is making me think that I don’t feel good. Continue reading »

Colleen’s posts are better

February 19th, 2008

I just thought I would get that out of the way right now because it is so true. ;)

Well, Sat and I dropped Sarah and Collin off at the airport this morning around 5. It was a pretty awesome weekend. S and C flew in late on Wednesday night for the long weekend. We spent our valentine’s day mostly in bed - S and C resting from their trip. It was one of those rare rainy/gloomy days in San Diego but it seemed to work out okay for us. While S and C were waking up and getting used to the warm weather I went to the dentist and got myself a shiny new tooth. Continue reading »

Yes, we’re slacking

January 16th, 2008

Ok, maybe I should say I am slacking. I have been meaning to write a blog post for the past three days but either time constraints or plain laziness have kept me away. There isn’t one subject I want to focus on for this post so get ready for a grab bag of memories.

Colleen and I were back on the geocaching trail this Saturday when we went down to the Clairemont/Kearny Mesa border. How did we come up with that particular area to hunt? Well, we’ve been talking about going to Sipz for what seems like ages now so we decided to finally take the leap and try it out. Too bad only 50% of our trip was a success.

We got CACHE!

December 29th, 2007

I found it!As Sat mentioned we went out on our first geocaching hunt on Thursday. It was a lot of fun, but kind of frustrating. We had been warned that it is harder than it appears. We had the coordinates, we had our GPSr, we had a compass. The one thing that we didn’t have was a topographic map that would have told us we couldn’t get to where we wanted to go by taking the path that we took. We are starting out with caches near us (so that Colleen can handle the “anxiety” of the adventure a little easier). We found two that were close to us and seemed within easy reach. Our original goal was “Sycamore Surprise”. Continue reading »

Boxing Day Hangover (One Day Late)

December 27th, 2007

I never understood why Boxing Day (i.e. the day after Christmas) wasn’t a big thing in the United States. Granted, I really don’t know anything about the Canadian holiday but it’s been a pseudo-tradition of mine to go shopping on Boxing Day. Last year my Mom was visiting and we went whale watching so I missed out on the whole shopping experience. It was just Colleen and I this year and we had some Christmas money to throw around so we headed down to our favorite store, Target.

I hate to throw a lot of complicated math around here but here is a simple equation that most of you should understand:

Colleen + Sat + Target = Empty Pockets
