Bad Drivers, Flat Tire, and Cell Phone Laws

July 1st, 2008

As I mentioned yesterday, Summer Session I started this week so that means it is back to the daily grind. Unfortunately, things got off to a bit of a rocky start. As we were about to head off to campus yesterday, Colleen caught Roxy peeing on the bed. Had it been Rubi, it might not have been so bad (since she has a history of this sort of thing) but now that Roxy is on the act we are a bit worried. Luckily, we caught it before it had a chance to really seep into the sheets so we quickly got everything thrown in the washing machine. In practically no time we were off to the mean streets of La Jolla to get Colleen to work.

Californian’s have a reputation for being poor drivers (especially when even the slightest drizzle appears) but there must be something about the beginning of summer session that brings out the worst in people. I think we were cut off, nearly ran into, and (in general) mortified way too many times for a 10 minute commute.

Wasted Time

June 30th, 2008

Have you ever been in the situation where you have had some many cool things to do but you never got around to doing any of them? That’s what my past week or two has been like and I’ve been really grumpy about it.

I guess it all started after the spring quarter ended and we were off to Ohio for my brother’s wedding. I won’t go into the trip in this post (I promise I’ll catch everyone up on it later) but lets just say that it wasn’t the best vacation I’ve ever had. It wasn’t a disaster or anything but it was just way more stressful than a “vacation” should be.

Fast forward a bit to after we had gotten back from our trip. Continue reading »

Mmmmm, Mongolian Hot Pot. . .

June 1st, 2008

Yesterday we decided that it was definitely time for us to get out of the house and get around the town.  Since we have started playing Wii I have noticed Sat isn’t pushing me to leave the house as much, which I don’t mind, but I don’t think it is so good for him.  If he doesn’t play outside for at least an hour every day he gets a little. . . well, mean. :-P Continue reading »

Wii Are Such Suckers

May 22nd, 2008

I knew it was a bad idea.

One of Colleen’s co-workers offered us a Nintendo Wii (for the full price, that is) but I wasn’t sold on getting it. Sure, they look really cool and I really would like to have one but I knew we didn’t need it so I told Colleen to pass up the offer. The offer sat there for several weeks before Colleen got the miraculous idea to ask her parents if they wanted one. No way they would want one, right?

It’s funny how old people have a way of surprising you ;)

Before I knew it, we were writing out a check to the aforementioned co-worker, to be reimbursed by Colleen’s parents once we shipped it to them. Now I’m afraid we aren’t going to get reimbursed; not because they are charlatans but because I doubt we are ever going to send it to them :-P

Colleen picked up the Wii on Monday and I thought, “Aw, what the heck? Let’s try it before sending it off.” I should have known those would be famous last words. Colleen instantly got hooked but she tried not to let on. I thought it was fun too but I didn’t want to let on either. Eventually we couldn’t keep up the charade any longer. When I got home yesterday Colleen had made like 5 extra “Mii” characters and I knew she didn’t want to give it up. I got a little too excited from the rush of beating people up in Wii Boxing so Colleen knew I was attached too.

I think we are going to ask Colleen’s parents if they want the current one we have or want us to try to get another one from Colleen’s co-worker. Then again, I don’t know if the answer will matter: I think we are keeping it either way.

And here comes the flood!

May 20th, 2008

Okay, it is time for this drought to be over! It has been a while since our last post and it was quite a doosey! It is time for Sat and I to get back on the horse and stick to our New Year’s Resolutions. So how to start? How about with an update on our New Year’s Resolutions! Continue reading »

A friendly chat

May 19th, 2008

Shortly after taking my new position a casual friend of mine from the library asked to have an informal chat with me.  I was a little excited and a little scared because I wasn’t sure what it was about (she didn’t really allude to anything).  So I was stressing a little – hoping that it was something fun but not too sure.  Well as it ends up she just had something on her mind that she felt she needed to share with me and was really worried that I would think that she was butting in where she didn’t belong.  So, would you be scared?  Because I sure was!  Thankfully the woman is super awesome and I knew she wouldn’t say anything intentionally mean and that she really did have my best interests at heart. Sat post accident

May 18th, 2008

So it has been a couple weeks since Sat’s fateful run-in with the truck and first off I would like to say thank you for everyone’s concern! Random people at work would come up to me and ask how he was doing. I didn’t realize so many people were secretly reading our blog. YAY!! But to answer the question you are all asking, he is fine. That contusion never came to surface so we didn’t see any bruising. He was a little stiff for a few days but because he stuck with his exercising and regular routine he really didn’t have much down time. Continue reading »

Road Rash

May 6th, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve last written a post. It’s not that nothing has been going on, it’s just that nothing extremely exciting has given me that push to sit down and write a post. Well, I’m happy and sad to report that something “exciting” happened to me today: I got ran into by a truck while on my bike.

Now, before you freak out: I’m fine. A little battered, a little bruised, but alright.

It all went down this morning when I decided to do the “right” thing and ride my bike to campus despite the rain. It hasn’t rained here in a while and I don’t usually have to make the decision on whether to ride my bike or take the shuttle but I usually end up siding with the latter. Maybe it’s because I wanted to get to campus quickly or maybe it was because I hate riding the shuttle but for whatever the reason, I decided to take my bike.

Finishing up Vegas

April 14th, 2008

Well, I assumed that Sat wanted to finish and here it is a week later and he still hasn’t, so I guess it is my turn again.  Good thing is, there isn’t much more to tell. Continue reading »
