Writing is hard.

Well, at least that is the way it seems sometimes.

As part of our continuing series “X Days ’til Christmas” I have been given the task of updating you on all that happened today. Let’s get started, shall we?

Colleen had a busy day at work today. Not only was she in charge of a training seminar at work (which drew a crowd of about 25), she had her interview for the ILL position. Last night we were practicing some questions she thought she would be asked and from the sounds of it, most of the questions they asked were ones that we anticipated. Colleen didn’t feel like it went very well but I’m sure she is just being modest. Timing in at approximately 13 minutes, it sounded pretty anti-climactic. Apparently she will now have to wait until the end of January before the next part of the interview process happens.

Why January? Well, as it turns out, her supervisor Glen, who is part of the interviewing process for the new position, is taking a 9-day cruise to the Galapagos Islands. Yes, those Galapagos Islands! Colleen and I are mad jealous of Glen and his wife and we aren’t going to be happy until we have some super vacation also. Hopefully my paper gets accepted to DSN ‘08 so we can go to Alaska in June. Enough of this digression though, let’s get back to the task at hand: recapping the day.

My day was uneventful for the most part. I took Colleen’s watch to the watch place at the UTC mall (Precision Time, if you are dying to know) to get the battery replaced. It’s a good thing too because she was totally living in the past! (Note to self: you are sooo funny!) I also briefly looked around for some last minute gift ideas but nothing struck my fancy. I did happen upon this new store called “Calendar Club: Go! Toys and Games” which is now in the storefront formerly occupied by Crate & Barrel. I’m not sure what it is but I have been in this nostalgic mood for games lately. I put “Boggle” and “Lost Cities” on my Christmas wishlist and bought the “Wizard” card game for my finicky mom. It’s probably just a passing phase but if you want to get me a special gift, just find me a fun board or card game to play.

There is one other piece of big news to report on: we might be getting a kitty soon. Colleen has been dropping some not so subtle hints that she really wants a cat so I looked around for information about cat breeds that are less troublesome to those with cat allergies (read: me). After deciding that $1500 and an 18 month wait time for a Siberian Forest Cat was a bit much, I found some old wives tales about Abyssinian cats being a bit more allergy-friendly than others. Petfinder was able to find a couple Aby’s here in San Diego at the Bone Appetite pet supply and cat rescue in Ocean Beach. I went down there yesterday to check them out (and see if they caused any sniffles) but the owner wasn’t around and I needed to be pre-approved for adoption. I filled out an application and called back today and it sounds like once La Jolla Del Sol decides to return their call, I am approved. I’ll probably be going down to OB tomorrow to play with Roxy and Ruby (the 2 Aby’s there) so wish me luck with my allergies. I’m sure Colleen will give you an update on my trip tomorrow.
I guess that is all for today. As I alluded to earlier, Colleen will be here tomorrow so stay tuned.
