Bake-Off et al.

I know, I know, it has been over a week since the ACS bake-off and I still haven’t posted about it. Well let me tell you, it was great! We had over ten entries and everyone was excited about bringing and tasting all of the sweet treats. We had everything from pineapple upside-down cake to cream puff dessert to the “Smashed Smurf Confection”. It really was a great time. Unfortunately, no one brought a camera so I have no pictures to post. But rest assured, it sounds like everyone is interested in a repeat! In case anyone from ACS reads this, thanks for participating! It was awesome and I am so glad to have been a part of it!

Oh yeah, I took home a prize – for the “Best For You” treat – I got measuring spoons and an apple. Yay!

And on a sad note. . . At the end of the bake-off the director of ACS pulled me aside to share some news with me. The department has chosen an outside candidate for the reserves Manager position and she will be starting on August 20th. What a downer. . . but it is okay. There will be other opportunities. Like just today, I saw an LA IV position open in SSHL – collections development assistant. Might be interesting, and it would be in Research Services so no circulation desk hours, but then I would help staff the reference desk (scary! But way more librarian-like).

Let me see, what else is there to talk about. AH HA! The Tribute to Alisa!

Alisa Brandt, the lovely lady formerly of ILL Lending. Alisa was my bestest bud at the library. A California native with a lot of creativity, especially with cakes. (Catching on to the alliteration yet? I love alliteration!). But anyway, Alisa really is pretty awesome. I miss her tons. She recently took a job at The Bishop’s School where she is now the Assistant Librarian. It just hasn’t been the same at work without her. She was a great bouncing board for work related items as well as personal things. Lunch just hasn’t been the same without but I am soooo happy that she found a great opportunity. Just heard from her the other day, it was brief but she seemed good. Very busy getting ready for the first day of classes (this Monday).

I know, not a very good tribute, definitely not good enough for Alisa, but it is all that I’ve got right now. Too hot to think!

Well, time to get back to chillaxin’ ;) . Happy Anniversary weekend to us!

You made a super yummy treat AND a fun party for all involved!

Thank you for the swell words - I really, really miss visiting with you at work. Now we just need to visit each other NOT at work!

    Best wishes,
